Wisconsin Dells Spa Day: The Ma and Spa

Image
My latest trip to the Dells a voucher brought me to the wonderful  Massage R US , home spa. A drive further down 8th Ave, it's definitely off the beaten path – – but this family owned business aims to please! I booked in for an hour of reflexology (an eastern type of foot massage.)  The therapist was clearly new to treating, but went the extra mile to tailor the treatment to my specific complaints. Massage and trigger point tools were applied to help with the treatment along with essential oils. This treatment primarily included the hour  massage that targets specific feet pressure points to aid in healing the body. It is based on a microsystem  theory, that is a couple hundred years old and borrows heavily from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine.)  The science behind it is dubious at best, but it is popular in several European countries as an alternative treatment. Studies have shown that massage on pressure points  can increase mobility and decrease ...

Float Milwaukee

Image
Floating has become the latest health craze-- and with good reason! Enter in Float Milwaukee in the Walker's Point area making it accessible and affordable. Who knew soaking in 950lbs of Epsom salt water would be so beneficial to the body and soul. The rooms were spotless and the staff was courteous.  Toiletries , robes, towels and extra comfortabl e slippers are availab le for your personal use. You can also sip tea in the waiting area before or after the floating session. Once you get the hang of floating, it is extremely enjoyable,  but the greatest benefit is how you feel afterward . My stress from the week melted away and really felt invigorated and restored! Sensory deprivation therapy was incredibly beneficial . Look for the weekly deals and last minute floats online starting at $45 dollars. A solid four stars!  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the float Pods at Float Milwaukee

Gloss

Gloss on Water is another new gem in the Milwaukee Spa/ Nail Salon scene. Nestled right into the Brewer's Hill neighborhood across the way from where I have called home for the last 6 years. This area is certainly conveniently located.  Highly recommended services: manicure and pedicure and waxing services. With this place in the area, they are always accommodating to fit me in for a Gel, Mani, Pedi, or a waxing. I did try some waxing here-- ouch-- but that has more to do with my pain tolerance than the practitioner's skills! Although the esthetician was talented and professional I think I will try laser hair removal so as not to ever have to deal with that again! Try to get in on a slow day or you will have trouble getting through! Four Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Pfister's Well-SPA

Image
August 19, 2016 The Pfister's Well-SPA -- located in downtown Milwaukee --it lives up to its reputation as one of the area's top Spas!  Beautiful showers (you might as well be visiting the Kohler Museum) amazing refreshments and mimosas --combine that with a talented staff --makes this one of the best places in town! Highly recommended and affordable options: A 'Good-To-Go' (Swedish) massage (ask for firm pressure if needed or better yet upgrade to  deep tissue!) The hammam steam shower is wonderful and the Kohler Showers are relaxing. During the steaming-- be sure to leave the door open as it intense! I have a claustrophobic issue so I think I would try their salt bath soak in lieu of the steam shower next time! Don't miss out on this Milwaukee spa! I give it 5 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
