Mud, Minerals and Music: Solage Calistoga Resort and Spa

Mud, Minerals, and Music at
Solage An Auberge Resort
While traveling into beautiful Calistoga I knew right away that this is a captivating and charming town. Amazing restaurants with wonderful and reasonably priced food, chic shopping area with plenty of sights for tourists and of course their famous mud baths and geothermal hot springs. There are options of hotels, spas, and resorts to enjoy the waters at every turn.
After a bit of research, I decided to go to the Solage Auberge Resort. It’s an award-winning spa that has multiple locations in California.
As a Forbes Five-Star Napa Valley Resort the Auberge collection has multiple locations.
Auberge Resorts Collection currently operates several clubs/spa resorts in several places in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Fiji.
Spa Treatment:
“The Mud, The Waters, The Rest.”
I did the three fold 60-minute ‘mud bar’ and bathhouse treatment as it seemed the best option to experience what the area is known for: mud baths, hot springs, and relaxation. Mud with your choice of essential oil, a tub soak in Calistoga’s famous geothermal mineral waters and meditation in a ‘sound chair.’ The mud portion is first you escorted into a heated lounge-- a private area where you apply your masque and bask in the heat as it solidifies. The room has several Kohler showers to rinse after your 20 minutes is up. Next is the waters for a 20-minute mineral soak in a separate tub room and lastly the sound chair as you are wrapped in a weighted blanket and given headphones for a meditation experience.
Post-treatment you have access to the pool and locker room areas which are the real gems of this resort. They have two different baths in the women’s and clothing optional area. I choose the right day to come because I had the entire place to myself. The large mineral pool is kept at 100 degrees and a small cooldown mineral pool is at 70. It was a wonderfully warm and sunny California day and after swimming a few laps in the 100-degree mineral pool and then tried the eucalyptus steam room for just a few minutes so not to overheat. After all the hot therapy a dip in the cool mineral pool was the absolute way to end the day. This would be a great place to be if you are doing a cleanse or trying to start off on a health kick. I honestly felt like I was coming down with something before I went in and after leaving I felt amazing and like my health was greatly improved. Placebo effect or not-- I was sold. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone taking a trip to the area.
FYIs
Staff should be around to direct you to the locker rooms and escort you to your services.
Fruit infused water and dried fruit and nuts were around every corner. You had the options to choose from various and healthy snacks (mostly dried fruit and nuts.) You can stay by the mineral pool for the day and choose from the menu of several smoothies and your choice of juiced beverages.
Admission is an additional charge on top of your spa service.
Pros:
Featuring geothermal rich mineral pool.
Smoothies/ Gourmet Health food ordered poolside.
Cons:
Treatment at each station is only 20 minutes long. It may be better to try one therapy at a time as not to feel rushed.
Some staff seemed new and uncomfortable with essential oil/ treatment options. And with assisting and explaining services.
Overall wonderful! 5 Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
